Finding-AdaOn Tuesday I had the honour of DJing at the Ada Lovelace Live event at Imperial College in London. Twas a marvellous evening, with great talks from a range of women, hosted by the most excellent Helen Arney (of Festival of the Spoken Nerd fame and much, much more) and below is a playlist of the femme-heavy tunes I played.

If you’ve never heard of Ada Lovelace Day, it strives to increase the visibility of women in the stereotypically male-dominated fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. People of all genders are encouraged to blog (try the Suzi Gage‘s wonderful piece) and tweet about women who have inspired them and to organise events such as Wikipedia editathons, talks and even geek grrl dinners.

Personally, I’d like to give a shout out to three good friends of mine, trailblazing their way through the technology land:

Mia Ridge – Museum data queen
Mairead Buchan – front end dev extraordinaire
Rachel Chalmers – IT venture capitalist

Although in my day job I am a geek, doing sysadmin, database design and other random techy things, this blog is about la music, so I thought I’d share what I played on the evening – a bunch of musically inspiring women, many trailblazers in their own right.

To have a listen to the tunes, click here for a spotify playlist: Ada Lovelace Day Live – 15 Oct 2013 and you can find out more about the individual artists by clicking on their names below. Enjoy.
