Pulled this out for the first time in years this evening and it still sounds incredible. The production is so utterly beautiful.
I remember listening to it over and over again in Melbourne. I remember going to see them and the encore being the most beautiful rendition of ‘Mirrorball’, where halfway through, a previously unnoticed mirrorball was shot with a thousand lights and was so breathtakingly beautiful I can still see and feel it 12 years later. I remember countless mornings at festivals, listening to that crisp rhythmic percussion, those heartfelt, clear vocals, the moving basslines, with that special extra sensory perception that acid brings. And, of course, the many tears shed to the lyrics that still seem so real.
‘The Heart Remains A Child’ may be the most profound lyric written in pop music.
